Aquino orders AFP, PNP to secure ARMM voter's registration

President Benigno Aquino III directed the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police and other law enforcement agencies to ensure that the July 9 to 18 ARMM General Registration of Voters is peaceful and orderly.

Aquino’s directive also tasks the law enforcement agencies to ensure order in related activities before and after the registration. Of particular concern are the deployment and withdrawal of registration personnel, forms and supplies, and registration equipment.

The AFP and PNP have also been instructed to coordinate and cooperate with the Comelec in its performance of its duties and functions.

Aquino conveyed his order through Memorandum Order No. 42 which he signed on July 4.

Comelec, through Resolution No. 9446 this year, had requested the President to deputize law enforcement agencies and instrumentalities in connection with the voter’s registration.
