Temperature in Baguio falls to 11 degrees Celsius

The New Year is off to a cold start for Baguio City after it experienced an 11-degree Celsius temperature early Friday – the lowest since the Northeast Monsoon started affecting the country in October 2014.

But PAGASA forecaster Buddy Javier, in an interview on dzBB radio, said temperatures are likely to get even colder in the coming weeks.

"Bumababa na po (ang temperature). Asahan natin sa susunod na araw tuloy lalamig ang temperatura natin," he told dzBB's Carlo Mateo.

He added Metro Manila chilled as well at 20 degrees Celsius early Friday.

A separate report on Bombo Radyo, however, said PAGASA Baguio's recorded temperature was at 11.4 degrees Celsius.

Last Dec. 30, Baguio experienced a drop in temperature to 11.8 degrees Celsius, the coldest recorded temperature so since October.

Baguio's lowest recorded temperature was at 6.3 degrees Celsius on Jan. 18, 1961.

On the other hand, temperatures in Metro Manila went down to 22.5 degrees Celsius last Dec. 30. Its lowest temperature since October 2014 was 19 degrees Celsius last Dec. 25. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
