Breadwinners among those killed in Bulacan construction site

Two brothers, together with a nephew and a cousin, went to their first day of work at a construction site on Monday hoping for a bit more food on the table.

Their family's hopes were crushed after a wall of a warehouse under construction collapsed in Guiguinto, Bulacan killing the four of them and seven others.

Brothers Rodolfo and Jacinto Nayanga, their nephew Jonathan Sagayap and their cousin Edmond Labagala all of Barangay 175, Camarin in Caloocan, were among the breadwinners killed in the tragedy.

In a report on 24 Oras on Wednesday, Rodolfo's wife Nora said that her husband had a lot of dreams for their six children. But she indicated that she had already accepted what happened.

While Nora has started to accept what happened, Jacinto's wife Josephine still can't believe that her husband was no longer with her.

Although the owner of the warehouse, Number One Golden Dragon Realty Corporation already gave financial aid, she insisted that the money won't be enough to alleviate her pain.

Jonathan's widow shared that her husband was ready to give his life for their child.

The youngest of the four, 19-year-old Edmond may have no family of his own but his mother revealed that his son has been helping the family.

The family has yet to decide whether or not they will file a case against the owner of the warehouse.

The Department of Labor and Employment has already issued a cease and desist order against the construction after finding out that the contractor Hoclim Co Construction Corporation had no permit to operate.

Aside from the four relatives, a 14-year-old and a pregnant woman were among the fatalities of the incident. —NB, GMA News
