Radioman shot dead in Tagbilaran City

A radio block-timer was fatally shot in Tagbilaran City in Bohol province Saturday morning, a police official said.

Tagbilaran City police head Chief Inspector George Vale told radio dzBB the victim, Maurito Lim, was about to report for work at the radio station when he was shot.

GMA News stringer Leo Udtohan reported Lim, nicknamed "Chairman Mao," was an announcer-blocktimer at dyRD radio.

Lim was initially brought to the intensive-care unit of a nearby hospital, but died 1:15 p.m.

Initial investigation showed Lim was shot in front of the radio station at about 10:45 a.m..

Lim was getting off his vehicle when a motorcycle-riding assailant approached him and shot him in the head.

Recovered from the crime scene was a slug. Vale, in the dzBB interview, said the slug may have been from a cal-.45 pistol.

Police are looking into whether the killing was work-related or stemmed from a personal grudge.

Vale said they are looking for possible closed-circuit television footage of the incident. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
