Sun.Star: Tawi-Tawi mayor 'clears' suspect in Sumalpong slay

A town mayor of Tawi-Tawi province "cleared" Friday night one of the possible suspects behind the murder of Radyo ng Bayan correspondent Vicente Sumalpong in Bongao town last Monday. Sun-Star online reported Friday night that Bongao Mayor Albert Que of Bongao claimed it was impossible for Nur Suwang to be the gunman who killed Sumalpong. Que said Suang's wife informed him that they were in Davao City when Sumalpong was killed last Monday. Two of Sumalpong's companions were wounded in the attack. Sumalpong, the production supervisor of Radyo ng Bayan-Tawi-Tawi, died from multiple gunshot wounds when he and two others were ambushed last Monday in Barangay Nalil in Bongao. Police initially tagged Suwang as a suspect after Suwang allegedly got mad at Sumalpong for helping the family of a guest relations officer whom he shot dead last June 20. Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao police director Chief Superintendent Joel Goltiao earlier said Suwang had been charged with murder for killing the GRO. - GMANews.TV
