Flooding hits La Union village as strong waves damage seawall


Hundreds of residents were affected due to flooding after a part of the seawall in San Fernando City, La Union collapsed due to strong waves spawned by Typhoon Lando.
 
A report on GMA News' Unang Balita on Tuesday said the seawall in Barangay Ilocanos was damaged on Monday after being battered by strong waves.
 
It said that according to local authorities, more than 15 meters of the seawall was damaged.
 
The incident caused flooding in Barangay Ilocanos, affecting hundreds of its residents.
 
The city government has provided relief supplies to the residents, who have been urged to evacuate to a safer place.
 
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Monday reported that a total of 627 families or 2,500 persons have been affected by Lando in San Fernando City.
 
Only 10 of the total number of affected families are staying in evacuation centers. —ALG, GMA News
