Maguindanao massacre suspect falls in Sarangani

Police on Tuesday arrested another suspect in the November 2009 Maguindanao massacre.

Members of the Sarangani Provincial Public Safety Company arrested Denga Oman Mentol in Sitio Kabangkalan, Barangay Batotoling in Glan town.

Senior Superintendent Hector Grijaldo Jr., deputy for operations of the Sarangani Provincial Police Office, said the suspect has been transferring from one hideout to another using several aliases including Carlo Opong Upang.

"Simula nong ano, palilipat siya ng places so we can't determine kung kailan sya pumunta dito sa Sarangani," Grijaldo added.

The suspect denied he was involved in the massacre of 58 people in Ampatuan town in Maguindanao province on November 23, 2009.

Mentol admitted that he used to work for the Ampatuan family, but said that he left as early as 2006.

The suspect has a P250,000 reward for his arrest. —ALG, GMA News
