3 killed, 1 missing in Quezon province landslide


Three people were reported killed and one was missing in a landslide that hit Barangay Tanauan, Real, Quezon on Saturday afternoon.

Citing initial information, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office chairman Dr. Henry Buzar told GMA News that the landslide occurred at about 1:30 p.m.  amid continuous heavy rains in the province.

The fatalities were identified as:

Normita Lastimosa, 34
Jhoan Lastimosa, 10
Joylyn Lastimosa 1

Meanwhilie, Jhosa Mae Lastimosa, 4 , was reported missing.

Four houses were covered by the landslide, Buzar was quoted as saying.

According to him, several minor landslide incidents were also reported in different areas of the province.

Meanwhile, the Famy Laguna-Real Quezon-Infanta Road and the Marikina-Infanta Road were impassable due to flooding.

Evacuation efforts are also ongoing according to local authorities.

Rainfall warning

In its 4 p.m. weather update, state weather agency PAGASA placed some areas in Luzon, including Metro Manila, under orange rainful warning, saying that flooding was imminent.

Other areas placed under orange warning level include Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and northern Quezon.

Meanwhile, the yellow warning level was hoisted over Batangas, Bataan, Bulacan, and the rest of Quezon. This means flooding is possible in low-lying areas.

Southern Zambales and portions of Pampanga will also experience light to moderate with occasional heavy rains in the next two to three hours. —with a report from Rie Takum LBG, GMA News
