3 killed, 3 nabbed in police anti-drugs operations in Rizal


Three people were killed and three more were arrested in the police's anti-drugs operations in Cainta, Rizal, early Sunday.

Superintendent Marlon Gnilo, chief of the Cainta Police Station, identified one of the three fatalities as Navy reservist Jojo Parado, resient of Sitio Bagong Silang, Barangay San Juan.

Gnilo said Cainta policemen, armed with a search warrant, was about to raid Parado's house at around 5 a.m., when they were fired at by the suspect.

The police fire back, killing Parado.

Gnilo said that Parado's unidentified lookout, armed with an improvised gun, also fired at the policemen. He was also killed by the authorities, the police official added.

In a separate raid at another house of Parado near the area, policemen also killed another unidentified suspect. The suspect also allegedly fired at the policemen during the raid.

Policemen arrested Parado's live-in partner, Arlene Templo, who denied having involvement in her partner's activities.

She confirmed that Parado was involved in the drugs trade and that he owns firearms.

In other operations, the Cainta police arrested a certain Elmar Guyab for illegal possession of firearms and a certain Michael Mopera for his alleged involvement in drugs.

Gnilo did not say if Guyab ang Mopera are gangmates of Parado. He said follow-up operations are being conducted against the other members of Parado's group. —report from Steve Dailisan/ALG, GMA News
