Police kill suspected drug pusher inside Leyte jail

A suspected drug pusher was killed by policemen in an anti-illegal drugs operation inside a detention facility in Baybay City, Leyte.

Police identified the slain inmate as Fernando Balagbis alias Intoy and Uncle, who was arrested last January 29 in a drugs bust in the same city.

Members of the Regional Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Task Group of the Eastern Visayas police raided the detention cell of Balagbis due to information that he was pushing drugs inside the Baybay City jail.

Police said that as the operatives were approaching Balagbis' detention cell, the inmate fired at the lawmen.

The policemen returned fire, killing the inmate.

Police said the operatives seized a .45 Colt pistol and several sachets of shabu from the inmates' cell. —ALG, GMA News
