Power supply cut in Negros Oriental areas due to Agaton


Some areas in Negros Oriental experienced an unscheduled power interruption on Tuesday as tropical depression Agaton hit the province.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said in an advisory that power was cut in several areas in the province at around 5:40 a.m. due to the tripping of the 69 kilovolt Amlan-Guihulngan line.

This affected areas being serviced by Negros Oriental I Electric Cooperative Inc. (NORECO I) including Bais, Bindoy and Guihulngan substations and Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NORECO II) including the Tanjay substation.

In its latest bulletin, PAGASA said the center of Agaton was in the vicinity of Bais City in Negros Oriental as of 8 a.m..

It is expected to cross other provinces in the Visayas before slamming into Palawan on Wednesday and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday morning. —ALG, GMA News
