Grenade explodes in front of broadcast journalist's home in Albay

A grenade exploded in front of a broadcast journalist's home in Legazpi City, Albay early Sunday.

Police said the grenade blast took place at around 1:15 a.m. in front of the house of Hermogenes "Jun" Alegre Jr. at Block 13, P5 Kabisig, Barangay Bitano.

Alegre is Zagitsit News FM's station manager and the Albay correspondent of dzRH.

The broadcast journalist said the grenade blast damaged his white Toyota Hilux and another vehicle parked beside it in front of their house.

He said the grenade was placed under his pick-up.

No one was hurt by the blast. Investigations are ongoing to identify who placed or threw the grenade under the journalist's vehicle.

Alegre said some residents saw motorcycle-riding men speeding away from the area after the blast.

He believes the attack was related to his job as a broadcast journalist and it was meant to intimidate him. —ALG, GMA News
