Police IDs persons of interest in San Jose del Monte killing

The police has identified persons of interest and a possible motive into the killing of a mother and her two young sons in Barangay Kaypian in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan, according to the report of James Agustin in Unang Balita.

Jaymee Casabuena 28, and her sons 8-year-old Gabriel and 5-year-old Joaquin Mateo were found dead inside their house on Wednesday evening.

The family's pet dog was also killed.

"Susunduin po sila ng mga kapatid niya kasi yung asawa ko darating ngayong mga 11 p.m. Susunduin sila rito para kasama sila sa airport. Pagdating nila rito nadiskubre nilang bukas yung pinto," said Jaime Casabuena, Jaymee's father.

In a separate interview, the brother of Jaymee, Harley James Casabuena, said his older sister entered the house and started screaming when she saw their sister.

"Pumasok na rin po ako, tapos nakita ko po yung Ate ko at saka yung dalawa kong pamangkin na duguan na po," he said.

Jaymee and her two sons were last seen by neighbors on Tuesday evening. It was on the same night that the neighbors saw two men near the house.

Barangay Kaypian executive officer Juanito Policarpio said two men were seen around 9 p.m. knocking at the Casabuena residence and that it was a small boy who opened the door.

Based on initial investigation, the police said they did not see any sign of a forced entry so it is possible that the victims knew the suspects.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives or SOCO also found a knife near the door of the house.

San Jose Del Monte Police Chief Lt. Col. Orlando Castil Jr. said the blood inside the house was already dry and the bodies of the victims bloated.

"Apparently ilang oras nang patay ang mga ito," he said.

Relatives said they could not think of a motive for the killing and that Jaymee had no known enemies.

The father's victim warned, "Kung sino man ang gumawa nito sa anak ko at mga apo ko, mahuhuli ka rin. Dapat sumuko ka na. Panagutan mo lahat ng ginawa mo."

In a follow-up operation on Thursday, the police have arrested suspects Wilson Cortez in North Caloocan while Joselito Cortez in Barangay San Manuel in San Jose Del Monte City.

According to Castil, Wilson is the husband of Jaymee’s cousin.

The police are looking into robbery as motive for the killing.

Wilson admitted that they broke into Jaymee’s house to steal her cellphone but the victim fought back, which prompted the suspect to stab her.

The suspects are scheduled to be presented to the media at Camp Olivas Thursday at noontime. — Joviland Rita/BAP/LBG, GMA News
