Church belfry topples down after quakes hit Itbayat, Batanes

A church's belfry toppled down in Itbayat, Batanes after a series of earthquakes struck the municipality on Saturday morning.

The Nuestra Señora del Rosario's belfry could be seen on the ground in a video shared by YouScooper Dominic de Sagon Asa.

At least eight people died after they were pinned down by the walls of their limestone houses.

The first earthquake measuring magnitude 5.4 occurred at 4:16 a.m.

A second earthquake was recorded at magnitude 5.9 at 7:38 a.m.

Two hours later, an aftershock measuring magnitude 5.4 was felt at 9:24 a.m. —KG, GMA News
