Over 100 Chinese workers in Bataan plant contract dengue

At least 120 Chinese nationals working at a coal plant in Mariveles, Bataan have contracted dengue, according to Mark Makalalad's report on Dobol A sa Dobol B on Tuesday.

Citing Bataan provincial health officer Rosanna Buccahan, the report said the spike in dengue cases among workers at the coal plant may have been due to the poor cleanliness at the facility, especially at the barracks where the Chinese workers were staying.

Buccahan said all the Chinese workers who contracted dengue were in stable condition as of the report.

The coal plant has reportedly seen at least two outbreaks, the first was in May when 96 cases were recorded, while another 24 were recorded in July.

The plant workers add to the 988 dengue cases recorded from January of August 15 this year. —Margaret Claire Layug/KBK, GMA News
