Security firm’s license may be revoked over disarmed guards in Misamis

The security agency whose guards were robbed of high-powered firearms by alleged communist rebels in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental may have its license revoked, a top police official said Thursday.

At a press briefing, Philippine National Police Civil Service Group director Police Brigadier General Roberto Fajardo clarified that the liability of the security firm AY-76 Security Specialists Inc., is still being probed, noting that it should no longer possess any high-powered firearms.

"Dapat unang-una wala silang high-powered firearms kasi hindi naman sila trained to use high-powered firearms," Fajardo said.

"So ire-revoke natin 'yung mga license... para tingnan din natin 'yung violation ng security provider..." he added. "We will conduct an investigation... may proseso pa."

According to the police, rebels stormed Minergy Power Plant Ash Pond site in Sitio Bahusan on Monday and disarmed the security guards of their issued firearms: five AK-47 rifles including 17 magazines with several ammunition and hand-held radios.

PNP chief Police General Oscar Albayalde has ordered a thorough probe into the incident. — BM, GMA News
