Duterte signs law creating lone legislative district of Santa Rosa City in Laguna

Santa Rosa City in Laguna will soon have its own representative in Congress.

Signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on August 22, Republic Act 11395 creates a new legislative district by separating the city of Santa Rosa from the first legislative district of the province of Laguna.

The law provides that the incumbent representative of the first legislative district of Laguna will continue to represent such district until the new representative of the lone district of the city of Santa Rosa shall have been elected and qualified.

The Commission on Elections has 60 days to issue the implementing rules and regulations of the new measure.

Santa Rosa hosts several manufacturing and industrial companies in the areas of electronics and semi­conductors, automotive and automotive parts, metal, packaging, food processing, and the business process outsourcing.  —KBK, GMA News
