Security guard nabbed after attempting to rob the bank he was guarding

A security guard was arrested on Monday after he attempted to rob the bank he was guarding in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

According to a report by John Consulta in GMA News TV's Balitanghali, the Sta. Rosa Police identified the suspect as 34-year-old Romeo Dimaano.

The cops said they received a report regarding the commotion in Prestige Bank at 9:17 a.m.

Witnesses claimed that Dimaano declared a holdup and asked the bank personnel to put the money inside his bag.

The robbery failed as the police were able to respond to the scene immediately.

Investigation is ongoing to determine if Dimaano had accomplices.

According to the report, the agency Dimaano worked for said that he had been with them for two years and assigned to the bank for five months, and that he had no criminal record. — Dona Magsino/BM, GMA News
