Remate columnist, companion killed in Pampanga ambush

A columnist and his companion were killed in an ambush in Arayat, Pampanga on Sunday.

Police on Monday identified one of the victims as Jupiter Gonzales, a columnist for Remate and a resident of Sampaloc, Manila. His male companion was still unidentified.

Police said the victims were onboard a Nissan Almera with plate number AQA 8441 when they were shot by unidentified suspects. The victims were traveling along Barangay Cacutud.

Gonazales was still brought to Arayat District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) condemned the incident, adding that it is already coordinating with authorities for the probe on the case.

Investigation is still ongoing to determine the motive of the killing, police said. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
