One nabbed in relation to ops in quake-damaged Ecoland 4000 condo in Davao

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Sunday said one person was arrested for disobedience with regard to operations in the earthquake-damaged Ecoland 4000 condominium.

A series of strong earthquakes hit Mindanao last week, which resulted to heavy damages in some establishments in Davao City.

“At least one person has been arrested for disobedience to a lawful order in relation to the operations at Ecoland 4000,” Mayor Duterte said in a statement.

She earlier said the city government was studying legal actions that it may take against the developer of the condominium that was heavily damaged following the 6.5-magnitude earthquake on Thursday.

At least nine people were injured after the condominium was heavily damaged.

Mayor Duterte identified the developer as DMC Urban Property Developers Inc.

The Ecoland 4000 Residences was officially declared a danger zone on Friday but a number of residents were spotted sneaking back into the damaged property.

Mayor Duterte, meanwhile, added that a joint ground assessment was being conducted by the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office 11 in landslide-prone barangays in Davao City.

Juario Village in Maa was also marked as a “danger zone,” based on the initial results of the assessment. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA News
