NDRRMC: Over 3,000 people affected by Ramon in Regions II and V


More than 3,000 people were affected in Regions II and V due to Typhoon Ramon, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Tuesday.

Latest data from the NDRRMC indicated that 848 families or 3,479 people in 46 barangays in Regions II and V have been affected. Of that number, 290 families or 1,059 people are taking temporary shelter in 20 evacuation centers.

The NDRRMC also said 16 residences in Region V were damaged.

State weather bureau PAGASA said Ramon continues to track the west northwestward direction going to Babuyan Islands.

PAGASA also said Ramon is forecasted to make landfall over the Babuyan Islands between Tuesday afternoon or evening.

In its latest weather bulletin, PAGASA said Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 3 was hoisted over the northern portions of Cagayan:

  • Santa Praxedes
  • Claveria
  • Sanchez Mira
  • Pamplona
  • Abulug
  • Ballesteros
  • Aparri
  • Calayan
  • Camalaniugan
  • Buguey
  • Santa Teresita
  • Gonzaga
  • Santa Ana

 

TCWS No. 2, on the other hand, was raised over the following areas:

  • Batanes
  • Apayao
  • Kalinga
  • Abra
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Ilocos Sur
  • the rest of Cagayan

 

Meanwhile, the northern portion of Isabela, Mountain Province, Benguet, Ifugao, La Union, and Pangasinan were placed under TCWS No. 1.

The NDRRMC said regional disaster councils in Regions I, II, III, V, VI, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA and CAR are monitoring their areas of responsibility to cater to the needs of affected residents.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development field office in CAR, the regional resource operations section and the satellite warehouses have stockpiles and standby funds amounting to P31,843,800.32. —KG, GMA News
