Over 5K passengers stranded due to Typhoon Tisoy

A total of 5,327 passengers were stranded in Southern Tagalog, Western Visayas, Bicol and Eastern Visayas due to the effects of Typhoon Tisoy, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Monday.

The PCG said the operations of 1,030 rolling cargoes, 51 motorbancas, and 45 vessels were also temporarily suspended while a total of 125 vessels and 19 motorbancas took shelter due to the weather disturbance.

The PCG vowed that all its units would ensure the strict implementation of the guidelines on the movement of vessels during typhoons to ensure the safety of passengers and their properties.

State weather bureau PAGASA said Tisoy is expected to bring occasional heavy rains over the Bicol region as well as in Samar and Biliran in Eastern Visayas while intermittent heavy rains are expected over Northern Cebu, Dinagat Islands, Siargao Island, and the rest of Eastern Visayas.
