At least 4 reported dead in Davao quake, including 3 in supermarket collapse

At least four persons have been reported dead in the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that jolted Davao del Sur on Sunday afternoon, including three who were killed when a supermarket collapsed in Padada.

Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Director for Operations Chief Superintendent  Samuel Tadeo said a rescue operation was conducted after the collapse.

“Mayroon po tayong ongoing rescue operations sa three-storey na collapsed structure, yung [Padada] Southern Trade na grocery store. Mayroon na pong tatlong patay,” he said.

Tadeo added they have rescued six persons from the collapsed building.

Meanwhile, in Matanao, Mayor Vincent Fernandez confirmed in a separate interview that a six-year-old has died in the quake. — Joviland Rita/BM, GMA News
