2 soldiers killed, 5 wounded in Lanao del Sur shooting

LANAO del Sur —Two members of 55th Infantry Battalion were killed while five others were wounded in a shooting incident in Pagayawan, Lanao del Sur Tuesday morning. 

The troops were on combat clearing operation of the ambush incident that happened the other day when the perpetrator, who was identified as Corporal Nao Mohammad Lassam, a scalawag trooper, fired against the soldiers.

Brigadier General Bagnus Gaerlan Jr., acting commander of the 1st Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Zampelan (Zamboanga Peninsula and Lanao Provinces), vowed to conduct a thorough investigation on the incident.

“Thorough investigation, pursuit and manhunt of the perpetrator is on-going. Our unit commanders were directed and cooperate with the friendly forces to apprehend the perpetrator," Gaerlan said.

Gaerlan also assured medical care for the wounded troopers. —LDF, GMA News
