Passengers stranded at PITX, unable to practice 'social distancing'

Due to mass public transportation being suspended during the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine, passengers in the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) were stranded Monday night.

Some passengers arrived at PITX at around 6 p.m., hours before the enhanced community quarantine took effect. But due to the long lines, they were still unable to catch a bus that would allow them to go home to their places outside of Metro Manila when midnight struck.

Those who were greeted by long lines that extended until outside the terminal, believed they would still be able to catch a bus because many were lining up. However, they lined up for hours only to find out that there were no more buses to bring them home.

Many passengers complained that there was no bulletin posted both inside and outside the terminal for them to find out what their alternative options were.

Most passengers wanted to go back to their respective provinces because even their own companies already set work-from-home measures.

According to some passengers, they understand the need for an enhanced community quarantine amid the threat posed by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), but wished they were given more time to prepare and make arrangements.

Others also mentioned that the number of people stranded inside and outside the terminal would increase the chances of catching the virus as they are unable to practice social distancing. --KBK, GMA News
