Jala-jala, Rizal vice mayor tests positive for COVID-19


The vice mayor of Jala-Jala, Rizal has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to a 24 Oras report by Emil Sumangil on Thursday, Vice Mayor Jolet Delos Santos attended the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) prior to falling ill.

The same event was also attended by a town councilor from Negros Oriental who earlier succumbed to COVID-19. 

“Hindi ko alam kung saan ko nakuha 'yan, kung sa PCL, sa national, or dito sa piyesta na naganap sa aming barangay,” Delos Santos said.

“Okay naman ako sa ngayon. Nagpapagaling ng ubo't sipon, konti na [lang]... Huwag kayo mag alala,” he assured his constituents.

The governor of Rizal earlier announced that she also tested positive for COVID-19. 

The disease has so far infected 13 people in Cainta, seven in Antipolo, three in Taytay, and one each in San Mateo and Montalban.

Nationwide, COVID-19 has claimed 45 lives while a total of 707 have tested positive. —Julia Mari Ornedo/LDF, GMA News
