Cabanatuan nurse adds to line of fallen frontliners vs. COVID-19

Another health worker has died due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Arvin Pascual, a nurse at Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center in Cabanatuan City, passed away on Wednesday morning, the Philippine Nurses Association Inc. announced on Facebook post.

Pascual graduated from the College of Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences at Wesleyan University-Philippines in Cabanatuan.

University president Benjamin Tugano extended his sympathies to Pascual’s family, acknowledging his “selflessness and dedication to the call of duty.”

Pascual joined the roster of brave Filipino medical workers who died in the line of duty.

In a nationally televised address on Monday night President Rodrigo Duterte again paid tribute to the country’s frontliners against COVID-19, saying the health workers who passed away in the war against the virus were fortunate to have died in the line of duty.

“I assure you that your efforts will be rewarded. Your heroism will not be forgotten. Saludo kami sa inyo,” Duterte said.

The Philippines has so far recorded a total of 2,311 cases of COVID-19 including 96 fatalities and 50 recoveries. -NB, GMA News
