2 COVID-19 patients recover in Zamboanga del Sur

Two patients who tested positive for the virus that cause coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have recovered, reported an official of the Zamboanga Del Sur Medical Center.

Dr. Anatacio Cagampang said the patients, one from Pagadian while the other is from Labangan, have tested twice and both came out negative for the virus.

The patients have been discharged on Monday from the isolation unit of the medical facility after attending physicians decided to allow them to go home.

However, the patients still have to undergo a 14-day home quarantine as health officials will continue to monitor their status.

“Yung second test nila, ginawan sila ng second test. So nag-negative sila. Before that test na ni-release they are all clinically stable. So that’s why our Covid team doctors physicians who are handling the patients decided with the majority that they are going to discharge today.," said Cagampang.

He asked that neighbors do not discriminate against these patients

Dr. Robert Capatoy, COVID-19 Task Torce Zamboanga Del Sur spokesperson, said residents should not be complacent as the number of COVID-19 cases continue to increase in the province.

He said the people's cooperation with the government and remaining in their respective houses are still the best defense against the deadly disease.

“Kahit may nagnegatibo at thankful tayo.Hindi pa rin tayo magkumpyansa sa mga pangyayari. At this point continuing pa rin yung mga cases na dumadating. Mayron pa ring mga PUM at PUI na natatanggap natin," said Capatoy.

Zamboanga del Sur has three confirmed COVID-19 cases, one in Pagadian City, another in Labangan, and a third in Dumalinao.

As of posting, there is still one COVID-19 positive patient confined at the isolation unit of the Zambanga Del Sur Medical Center. The patient is clinically stable, the officials said. -- BAP, GMA News
