IEDs uncovered in Maguindanao

Military and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) forces recovered two improvised explosive devices during a clearing operation in Maguindanao.

The troops found the explosives and several other components at Sitios Dungguan and Dama Kayo in Barangay Kalumamis, Guindulungan early Monday morning.

Soldiers of the 7th Infantry Battalion surrendered the explosives to their tactical command post where the devices were properly identified, evaluated, and disposed.

Joint Task Force Central commander Major General Diosdado Carreon said troops continue to secure the area amid the community quarantine prevailing over Mindanao.

"Security forces keep guard against hostile groups who may threaten and take advantage of the situation to disrupt the security in the area," said Western Mindanao Command chief Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana.

"We sustain security operations as measures to preempt terror ploys and neutralize implements of hostilities in the area," he added. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
