Carmona, Cavite rolls out circumcision on wheels amid ECQ

The municipal government of Carmona, Cavite has rolled out a vehicle that conducts free door-to-door circumcisions amid the enhanced community quarantine.

According to John Consulta's Monday report on "24 Oras," the mobile circumcision booth, or the "Operation Manhood on Wheels" is fully-equipped, while the doctors and nurses who conduct the procedure are wearing personal protective equipment.

Meanwhile, those who will be circumcised are required to undergo screenings and temperature checks.

The medical staff said they are able to circumcise 15 up to 20 boys daily.

Carmona Mayor Roy Loyola said the program will run for the whole month of April to May.

"Isang magandang project kasi 'di na kami mahihirapan lalo na ngayong may enhanced community quarantine, 'di ba," a mother said.

Loyola said the LGU is targeting around 600 boys to be circumcised during the duration of the program.

"Nandiyan na 'yong mga gamot namin eh. We've acquired them bago pa mangyari itong enhanced community quarantine," Loyola said.

Aside from circumcision, the lGU is also offering free vaccines for children and senior citizens, while pregnant women can avail of prenatal checkups.

So far, Carmona has reported one case of COVID-19, which has already recovered.

Nationwide, the number of COVID-19 cases reached 6,459, including 428 deaths and 613 recoveries as of Monday. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/DVM, GMA News
