2 Bicol Region health workers test positive for COVID-19


Two more individuals, both of whom were health workers, have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the Bicol Region, the Department of Health Center for Health Development announced Saturday.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the region to 59.

Patient 58 was a 48-year-old Filipina nurse from Daraga, Albay who was a close contact of another patient.

The patient was asymptomatic and was confined at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital.

Patient 59 was a 27-year-old Filipino utility worker from Ligao City, Albay. He is an asymptomatic case.

At present, there were four fatalities and 35 recoveries in the Bicol Region.

"The public is strongly advised to strictly follow community quarantine procedures as well as precautionary measures including proper handwashing, social distancing, cough etiquette, disinfection of commonly used objects, healthy lifestyle and to stay at home," the DOH CHD said.

"The hospitals are likewise enjoined to follow stricter infection control protocols. Everyone’s cooperation is crucial in this time of crisis," it added. — DVM, GMA News
