COVID-19 cases in Cebu City now at 1,765

The total confirmed COVID-19 infections in Cebu City rose to 1,765 on Tuesday after the city health department reported 16 new patients, the majority of whom were from the Cebu City Jail.

In a Facebook post, the Cebu City Public Information said 11 of the new cases came from the Cebu City Jail, followed by two from Barangay Suba, and one case each from Barangays Pasil, Punta and Mambaling.

The PIO said many of the new patients were asymptomatic.

Mayor Edgar Labella said asymptomatic patients were to be transferred to their respective barangay isolation centers.

Labella also urged all Cebu City residents to stay at home and comply with safety protocols to halt the spread of COVID-19. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
