Cavite lifts liquor ban but residents warned vs. public drinking

Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla has lifted the liquor ban in the province but laid out some guidelines for his constituents in purchasing alcoholic drinks.

In a post on Facebook on Friday, Remulla said only those with quarantine pass are allowed to buy alcoholic beverages, and they can only do so from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Remulla also said the alcoholic drinks that Cavite residents could buy are limited only to hard drinks, wine and champagne, and beer.

He reminded his constituents that they cannot drink alcohol outside their residences or in "plain sight of persons of authority."

"Huwag na naman sabihin na 'bahay ko, puwede ko gawin ang gusto ko...' pag sa loob ng bahay ay wala kaming pakialam. Huwag lamang in public view," Remulla said.

"Bawal ang public intoxication. Pag kayo ay naglalakad sa kalye ay amoy chiko kayo ay tepok kayo sa batas," he added.

Remulla warned that police officers would roam and monitor the selling and buying of alcoholic drinks.

Remulla also said singing in karaoke is still prohibited as well as any forms of mass gathering.

The governor also said curfew would still be implemented from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The liquor ban was implemented as part of the strict guidelines aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19. --Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
