Two 'local terrorists' surrender in Maguindanao —military


Two alleged local terrorists surrendered to government troops conducting operations last Friday in Maguindanao, the military said.

Brigadier General Roberto Capulong, Commander, 602nd Infantry Brigade said that his troops were on a law-enforcement operation targeting Razul Dubpaleg and his cohorts in Barangay Indatun, Northern Kabuntalan, forcing the two terrorists to surrender.

"The operation resulted in the withdrawal of support of his (Dubpaleg) cohorts identified as Tawali Puaya, a.k.a. Ryan Tumagantang, and Puaya Tumagantang, both of the rogue Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) -Karialan Faction," Capulong said.

The two handed over one locally made 7.62mm Sniper Rifle and one improvised explosive device (IED) made from 105mm projectile with secondary charge of five 40mm HE projectile, Capulong said.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Diosdado Carreon, Joint Task Force  Central Commander said, "Our troops remain steadfast in ending terrorism in Central Mindanao."

The two were presented to the municipal government officials, then they were brought to 34IB headquarters for custodial debriefing.

Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, WestMinCom Commander said that more pressure will be instigated by the military to force the enemies to yield rather than be killed in armed confrontations.

He added that it is still preferable to end terrorism in a peaceful way. —LBG, GMA News
