Eastern Visayas has highest search interest for coronavirus–Google

Eastern Visayas has shown the highest search interest for coronavirus in May, according to Google Philippines.

In its latest trends report, Google shared the top regions with the highest search interest on the pandemic.

Eastern Visayas topped the list, followed by Cordillera Administrative Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Bicol and Metro Manila. 

Eastern Visayas or Region VIII includes Biliran, Leyte, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, Ormoc, and Tacloban.

At least five individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in Eastern Visayas, while Ormoc City recently recorded its first case, a resident who had arrived from Metro Manila.

Aside from the regions with highest search interest on the virus, Google also shared that the top overall trending search term was “ReliefAgad,” the newly launched app that aims to help expedite the distribution of the social amelioration program subsidy. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
