Camp John Hay to open for Baguio residents starting June 30

Some areas of Camp John Hay in Baguio City will be opened to Baguio residents starting June 30, according to the Public Information Office (PIO) of Baguio City on Sunday.

This was after the John Hay Management Corporation gave the go signal to have select areas be opened for residents for leisure purposes, it said.

Residents may use certain facilities of Camp John Hay every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting June 30.

Meanwhile, senior citizens and those below 21 years old may use the same facilities every Sunday.

The areas to be opened for leisure purposes on the said days are:

  • Camp John Hay Manor children's playground
  • Ayala open field for strolling/walking
  • Yellow and Eco-Trail for strolling/walking
  • Main road for jogging but not for biking

Visitors to Camp John Hay were advised that food outlets at the Ayala Techno Hub will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The picnic area at Scout Hill remains closed for now.

"Wellness passes are available at the SEZAD Office near IHG," the PIO said.

Visitors may park at the CAP Center, Filling Station and Mile Hi Center, it added.

The Baguio City PIO reminded visitors to wear face masks and observe social distancing.

Food from outside are not allowed but drinking water may be brought in, it added.

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong on Tuesday said the city may be open to tourists by September, depending on the situation of nearby regions.

In mid-March, Magalong ordered the temporary closure of some of its famous tourist spots as part of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. —KG, GMA News
