PNP condoles with families of 4 soldiers killed by cops in Jolo

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday extended its condolences to the bereaved families of four soldiers who were killed by policemen in a misencounter in Jolo, Sulu.

“The PNP leadership extends its deepest condolences to the family and colleagues of two Philippine Army officers and two enlisted men who died in the unfortunate incident,” it said in a statement.

The PNP also said that police and Armed Forces officials in Sulu have agreed to let the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Zamboanga City lead the investigation “to ensure impartiality and to eliminate any suspicion of undue influence.”

“As an immediate administrative action, all personnel involved in the incident, particularly from the Jolo Municipal Police Station, are restricted to quarters in preparation for the NBI’s investigation,” the PNP added.

The regional director of the Police Regional Office in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region has also been instructed to extend full administrative and operational support to the NBI, according to the PNP.
