Dengue cases in Eastern Visayas reach 4,131

The number of dengue cases in Region VIII or Eastern Visayas from January to date has reached 4,131, according to the Department of Health (DOH) - Region VIII.

Nine of those cases led to death.

The dengue cases were reported in Leyte, Eastern Samar and Samar.

The DOH said the 2020 number is 34% below the 6,301 cases tallied during the same period in 2019. Twenty-seven died after contracting dengue last year in the region.

The department reminded the public to observe preventive protocols to avoid having dengue. —KG, GMA News
