Samar town mayor hurt in shooting incident — PNP

The mayor of Tagapul-an, Samar was hurt following a shooting incident in Barangay Sugod on Thursday morning.

According to Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, the victim, Mayor Vicente Limpiado, was at the entrance of his farm and was about to leave when he was shot by the suspect, hitting his back.

He was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment, Banac said.

Banac said PNP chief Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa already directed the Police Regional Office VIII to expedite the probe on the incident to identify the suspect and to determine the motive of the crime. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
