San Lazaro medical frontliners hold silent protest

Several nurses of the San Lazaro Hospital on Thursday held a silent protest amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)pandemic by laying down their shoes in front of the hospital.

According to a report on "24 Oras," the frontliners demanded sufficient supply of personal protective equipment (PPEs) and asked the hospital to give their salaries during their mandatory 14-day quarantine.

They also requested hospital authorities to fix their elevator.

A source of GMA News revealed that 13 employees of the hospital have tested positive for COVID-19. The infected employees were made to stay in tents outside the hospital due to lack of rooms.

The management of the hospital declined to give a comment, stressing that it has yet to receive formal complaints.

It further said that it will continue to follow safety protocols and will give adequate PPEs to its medical frontliners.
