21 Chinese POGO workers lose almost P1-M in robbery

Twenty-one Chinese nationals who are Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations workers lost items worth almost P1 million in total after they were robbed by eight suspects in Binan, Laguna.

In John Consulta’s Saturday report on “24 Oras Weekend,” CCTV footage showed that the guard of the compound opened the gate to let in a man who introduced himself as a police officer.

Upon entering the gate, the man’s accomplices began entering the compound. They then entered the house of the Chinese nationals, tied them up, and kept them in a single room.

The eight suspects only took a few minutes to take all the victim’s cell phones, laptops, jewelry, and money.

Though the suspects took the guard’s gun, police decided to include him in their investigation.

“Eh, ‘yung pintuan biglang binuksan na lang. Daming usapan pa. So doon mo makikita na ang gwardya, in our investigation at sa CCTV na makikita po natin, ay kasabwat talaga,” Police Lieutenant Colonel Danilo Mendoza, the Binan Police chief, said.

The Binan Police encountered suspect “Herbert,” who was supposedly one of the individuals involved in the robbery, while hot pursuit operation is on-going for the others.

“[K]ung sino ang mga nanloob sa bahay ng mga dayuhan, hopefully sa mga darating na raw ay makuha ang mga ito ng tracker teams na mga kapulisan ng Binan City,” Police Colonel Serafin Petalio II of the Laguna PPO said. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
