Cavite Gov.

Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla on Friday denied that he is at odds with the government and not giving his cooperation with regards to national policies against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Remulla said the local government of Cavite supports the policies being implemented by the national government in addressing the health crisis that has affected over 100,000 and plunged the economy into recession.

"Ang Cavite po, ang inyong lingkod po ay nakikiisa sa ating Pangulo at nakikiisa sa IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases) kung ano man ang kanilang mga patakaran," Remulla said.

Remulla has been vocal about some national issues such as the learning scheme of the Department of Education in the time of pandemic and the timing of making reforms in the 1987 Constitution.

The governor had expressed the need for a budget in the DepEd's learning scheme. He said Cavite province needs at least P5 billion for this modular type of learning.

On the other hand, Remulla also questioned the timing of making amendments in the Constitution, noting that the government's focus should be in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.

When back-riding on motorcycles was not yet allowed, Remulla was among those who appealed to the national government to allow it as a means of transportation for the public.

At present, Remulla said the local government is focusing on its educational plan for the upcoming school year. He said a free WiFi program for public school students would be launched next month.

—KBK, GMA News
