Baliwag, Bulacan implements intensified border control

The local government of Baliwag, Bulacan started implementing Monday an intensified border control to lower the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the municipality, Unang Balita reported.

GMA reporter Darlene Cay said the local government closed several roads and put checkpoints in other areas to control the movement of people.

“Gagawin natin ito sa pag-asang mapababa ang kaso ng COVID-19 sa Baliwag, kung saan 61% ng kabuuang bilang ay mula sa mga may history of travel sa mga high risk area tulad ng NCR,” Mayor Ferdie Estrella said in a Facebook post.

As of September 5, Baliwag recorded 189 cases, of which 96 are active, 86 have recovered, while seven died. There were also 111 suspected COVID-19 cases.

Under the intensified border control measure, only the authorized persons outside of residence (APOR) or those who can prove that they have essential travel are allowed to enter or exit Baliwag. They need to show their company identification cards, quarantine pass, or travel pass from their respective local governments if they are not residents of Baliwag.

Residents of Baliwag who are working in National Capital Region or other high-risk areas are urged to stay in a place near their work or avail of the work from home scheme.

If the worker cannot stay near the place of work, he or she is urged to apply online to be allowed to isolate whenever he or she goes home from work.

They can also rent a budget dormitory in Baliwag or avail of an APOR village in their barangay.—AOL, GMA News
