Baguio City's 10 new COVID-19 cases cause total to reach 425

Ten new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported in Baguio City, driving up the total to 425, according to 24 Oras News Alert on Saturday.

Among the new cases is a 32-year-old male and a 36-year-old female. Both of them showed symptoms.

Meanwhile, a 10-month-old who tested positive for COVID-19 is asymptomatic.

Of the 425 total cases, 81 are active.

The number of recoveries reached 333 while the death toll was at 11.

Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., chief implementer of the national government’s COVID-19 response, last week cited Baguio City as one of three top cities for COVID-19 response.

Galvez lauded local authorities in the three cities for their “holistic” action against the pandemic.

“In terms of best practices, we can say that Baguio City, Valenzuela City, and Parañaque City can be used as a benchmark in terms of its holistic and integrated approach in preventing the spread and mitigating the impact of the disease,” he said in a briefing. —KG, GMA News
