Angat Dam water level goes up slightly due to rains

The water level at Angat Dam went up slightly on Wednesday after Tuesday’s rains.

At 6 a.m., the reservoir water level at the dam reached 176.50 meters, according to data from PAGASA.

This is a bit higher than the 176.20 m on Tuesday at 6 a.m.

The water levels of Ipo, La Mesa, Binga, Pantabangan and Caliraya dams also went up slightly on Wednesday.

Angat Dam's water level has been dipping earlier this month, prompting PAGASA to advise the public to conserve water.

More than 90% of the water supply in Metro Manila comes from the Angat Dam.

The water level at the Angat Dam will become critical once it reaches 160 meters.

Last week, the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) reduced the 46 cubic meters per second water allocation for Metro Manila as the water level at Angat Dam continued to decrease.

It clarified though that the reduction of water allocation from Angat Dam for Metro Manila will not have a significant impact on the region’s water supply situation. —KG, GMA News
