Magnitude 5.2 quake jolts Davao Occidental

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck 41 kilometers northwest of Davao Occidental's Don Marcelino town Sunday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The tremor struck at 9:28 p.m., was tectonic in origin, and had a 172-kilometer depth of focus.
The quake was felt at:
- Intensity III in General Santos City; and Alabel, Sarangani.
- Intensity II in Mati City, Davao Oriental; Glan and Malapatan, Sarangani; Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental; Kiblawan and Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.
The tremor was also measured at an Instrumental Intensity III in Alabel, Sarangani.
While no damage was expected from the quake, aftershocks were likely. — DVM, GMA News
