Several areas in Kalibo under lockdown to prevent COVID-19 spread


Several areas in Barangay Poblacion in Kalibo, Aklan were placed under granular enhanced community quarantine and surgical enhanced community quarantine to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

According to a report on “24 Oras News Alert” on Monday, a GECQ was imposed in Puroks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 of C. Laserna Street-Interior, while a SECQ was implemented in Mabina Area and Sto. Niño Village.

The lockdowns will be from September 20 to October 5.

The local government said only authorized persons outside residence are allowed to leave their houses during the lockdown period.

The municipal health office, together with the barangay health emergency response team, municipal risk reduction management, and the COVID-19 task force will also conduct contact tracing.

So far, Kalibo has recorded a total of 38 COVID-19 infections, including 33 active cases and five deaths.

Nationwide, cases of COVID-19 reached 290,190 on Monday with 230,233 recoveries and 4,999 deaths.—Ma. Angelica Garcia/AOL, GMA News
