Power, telco services down in Catanduanes, says Red Cross

Power supply and network coverage are still out in several provinces across the country following the onslaught of Typhoon Rolly.

Philippine Red Cross chairman Senator Richard Gordon said there is still no electricity and network coverage in Catanduanes.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) also said there is no power supply in the entire provinces of Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur.

Power interruptions are also affecting parts of Quezon province and Batangas.

The NGCP said the heavy downpour and strong winds brought by Rolly affected several transmission lines.

It added that inspections will be conducted once weather conditions improve.

Meanwhile, Gordon said an estimated 6,113 individuals are currently housed in 14 evacuation centers in Catanduanes.

“As of 5:00 p.m., 222 ang naitalang partially damaged houses sa Pandan, Catanduanes. Ang Red Cross ay naghahanda na ng GI sheets na maaaring ipamigay sa mga nasiraan at nawalan ng bubong dahil sa hagupit ng bagyong Rolly,” he added.

Signal No. 3 remained raised over 13 areas across the country as Rolly headed for Batangas and Cavite. -NB, GMA News
