2 dead in Camarines Norte after Typhoon Ulysses battered Bicol —OCD5


Two individuals died, four went missing, and eight others were injured in Camarines Norte after Typhoon Ulysses battered the Bicol Region, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Region V reported Thursday.

According to its situation report issued past 12 p.m., the OCD said the two casualties came from the municipalities of Daet and Talisay, respectively.

Meanwhile, three of those who went missing came from Vinzons town, and one from Mercedes, while those injured came from Mercedes, Basud, Daet, and Vinzons.

Camarines Norte was placed under Tropical Wind Signal No. 3 as Typhoon Ulysses came in contact with the Luzon landmass.

The OCD said as of 12 p.m., a total of 57,719 families individuals have been displaced, of which 50,582 are inside evacuation centers and 2,140 are outside these shelters.

Flooding incidents have also been reported in 37 municipalities in the Bicol Region, as well as five landslides in four towns.

The OCD likewise reported that there are 938 stranded passengers in seaports in the region, as well as 255 trucks, 44 light vehicles, and five sea vessels.

Most of the national roads in the region are passable, with only eight national roads that are not, it added.

According to Pagasa's 11 a.m. weather bulletin, Typhoon Ulysses is now located over the West Philippine Sea, yet Signal No. 3 remains up over five areas.—AOL, GMA News
