Cagayan locals struggling with floods seek treatment for athlete's foot

Cagayan residents who continued to struggle with floods caused by Typhoon Ulysses have sought treatment for athlete’s foot, which they developed after spending hours in muddy waters.

According to CJ Torida’s “24 Oras” report on Tuesday, some residents in Linao Norte, Tuguegarao City have started wrapping their feet in plastic bags.

“May alipunga. Alipunga na. ‘Yung mga tao rin kasi tingnan mo, papilay pilay na sila,” Santy Perez said.

The Provincial Health Office (PHO) said that medicines which were prepositioned long before Ulysses hit were available.

“Naka-preposition na ako ng mga gamot as early as two weeks ago… I can always call consignors to deliver medicines anytime kung kukulangin,” Dr. Carlos Cortina said.

Roads in Linao Norte are still muddy and flooded days after Ulysses ravaged the area.

However, air assets are still needed to bring relief goods to 50 barangays across six towns due to the storm’s impact. — Julia Mari Ornedo/DVM, GMA News
